The Community Cupboard continuously strives to adhere to its mission
statement of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors". We offer a host of services to
assist the struggling members of our community. The scope of our services
continue to increase along with the number of clients assisted. To learn about these services,
browse the descriptions of each service below and decide which is best suited to
you or a neighbor in need.

- Food, Clothing, and Furniture
Food: Once qualified, individuals in need can obtain weekly supply of
groceries. Mondays are distribution days at the Cupboard. Emergency
assistance is also available by contacting the Cupboard at anytime.

- Clothing: The cupboard clothing room is seasonally organized by
clothing types and sizes to provide various items to families in need.
Sizes range from infant to adult.

- Furniture: The cupboard can provide basic furnishings to needy
families upon request. The furniture is warehoused at a separate
storage room in Ambler and delivery arrangements can be made ahead of time.

- After School Elementary Education Program

- The Cupboard has been providing after
school care to third grade students from Wissahickon school district since
Fall of 2006. Students in need are identified by the school.
- The program runs Monday through
Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 and the students receive tutoring, participate in
arts and crafts, and are provided with a snack.
- Students are brought to the Cupboard by
bus and picked up by parents after school.

- GED Tutoring Program

- The Cupboard started the GED tutoring program this past May 2007.
The goal of this program is to prepare the students for taking the state
required exam to obtain their GED. Our GED instructor, Mr. Thomas
Ryales is a graduate of Penn State University holding his Masters degree in
Education.
- Class meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 and
occasional Saturday sessions are held on a as needed basis.
- The classroom is a comfortable setting equipped with text books,
internet ready personal computers, and other necessary educational tools.
There are currently 8 students attending and additional seats are available.
The Cupboard encourages interested individuals to contact us to be placed on
a waiting list.

- Healthcare
Visiting Doctors and nurses from Abington Memorial Hospital are available
Mondays after 11:00 AM to provide basic healthcare to needy individuals.
Patients are further referred to a clinic to obtain additional care and medicine
as needed.
- Holiday Food Baskets

- The Cupboard provides its clients with
holiday food baskets at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Emergency housing and housing
related funding
In ultimate emergency circumstances, the Cupboard within reason provides
assistance, referral, or funding to needy individuals to provide temporary
shelter, rent money, or overnight accommodation fee.
